Today I visited Michael Schmidt’s exhibition Grau als Farbe, Fotografien bis 2009 at Haus der Kunst.
In that extensive retrospective there are being shown images from 16 series of one of the most imortant German photographers, reaching from Ein-heit to Frauen to Waffenruhe.
These pictures aren’t hanging in a chronological order though – Michael Schmidt himself developed that way of presentation to create a dialogue between the serie and to show new coherencies and associations to the spectator.
With the help of this hang he manages it excellently. If you want to see the almost 400 original copies, of which a third has never been shown, you should take some time and the patience to get into the works.
The exhibition is still open until 22nd of August. Admission is 8 euros and 6 at a reduced price.
